Hi All,
On a recent virtual night flight from Auckland to Fiji on my round the world trip I ended up ploughing into the hillside around the airport. There was a mismatch between the airplane database and what Navigraph was telling me so I self vectored myself in as I couldn't figure out what the RNAV instructions were telling me.
Suffice to say I made a dreadful mess of it and one I will striving to avoid in the future. The joy of simulation I guess.
In the old ACARS I believe it wouldn't have allowed me to post the PIREP as I was not on the ground at the assigned arrival airport. However, I was allowed to do it in the new (current) ACARS. Does it matter is ultimately what I am asking or should ACARS actually enforce this. Having spent a shade over 3 hours on the flight I was glad that time was recorded but somehow feel I should have been penalised for the gross pilot error I made.
Possibly I was near enough to the airport - I don't think so but may have been.
I don't want to put Jon and the team to any bother as what they have done getting it back for 2024 is already monumental.
I wondered what the consensus was amongst my fellow desktop pilots and how we felt about how strict the rules should be. I am happy to go with the consensus or if Jon says can't be done or hasn't got the time.
Love to hear your thoughts.
